The Las Patronas Endowment Fund
The Las Patronas Endowment Fund was established in 1990 to provide our members and community supporters an enduring way to support the charitable activities of Las Patronas. The Fund is a stable and permanent reserve that generates income which may be distributed to qualified beneficiaries via a Legacy Society Grant. Members of the Legacy Society have included Las Patronas in their planned giving or made a direct contribution of $10,000 or more.
2020 Legacy Society Grant
With funds from Las Patronas Home Start will purchase an 8′ by 12′ Studio Shed to serve as an on-site therapy office/ program space. The shed will provide on-site office space for staff, as well as provide convenient, confidential space for various group and individual private therapy sessions for MHP residents and their children.
Home Start’s Maternity Housing Program (MHP) provides stable housing and wraparound supportive services for homeless young mothers and their children. Our MHP is the first of its kind in San Diego to address homelessness specifically designed for pregnant/parenting young mothers and their children by providing affordable case-managed housing in an urban region that faces an extreme shortage of housing for low-income individuals and families. Mothers receive evidence-based parenting education, assistance with securing child-care, assistance with enrolling in college-level courses, counseling, personal health and nutrition education, substance abuse prevention, job training resources, independent living, and healthy relationship training.
